Overview

As a part of our Digital Strategy team, work with industry leading omni-channel retailers and DTC brands in executing, analyzing, reporting, and strategically supporting their digital marketing efforts, focusing on paid search in Google and Bing. The Director of Paid Search leads Belardi Wong’s search practice and is responsible for a team of analysts. They are responsible for ensuring the search team executes media with best-in-class strategy, testing plans, and cross-channel budget management. The role is responsible for ensuring our point of view on search is implemented across both managed media clients and strategic consulting projects.

 

This role is a leader in building out Belardi Wong’s growing digital media execution offering by ensuring processes, training, standard operating procedures and materials deliver exceptional performance and strategy across clients. Areas of experience must include digital marketing, e-commerce strategy, Google Ads (e.g., text ads, PMX), Bing, and analytics. Interact regularly with internal team and Director of Paid Social in ensuring cross-channel collaboration and a channel-agnostic approach to media optimization.

 

Some travel is required. The Director will have multiple direct reports, but should be capable of search execution and analytics as well as budget management and strategy.

 

Responsibilities

A Director of Paid Search responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Opportunity Analysis & Project Work

  • Support in audits of paid search strategy across campaign structure, bid strategy, copy/creative, keyword strategy, Performance Max implementation and strategy
  • Review findings and conclusions in concise PowerPoint presentations to present to clients, ensuring the BW expertise on search is clearly communicated

Direct Media Management

  • Lead the execution of the paid search strategy for emerging brand and multi-channel retailer clients including campaign execution, reporting and analysis, delegating appropriately across the team
  • Manage weekly call agendas and ensure key insights are effectively communicated to the client in a timely manner
  • Ensure all campaigns are managed within agreed upon budgets and ROAS targets including pacing and building budgets across digital media. Lead budget development process and be able to make tactical recommendations in terms of cross-channel optimizations.
  • Lead client relationships and ensure client goals, questions and needs are met in a timely manner 
  • Project manage client relationships, ensuring a holistic digital strategy across search and social programs
  • Use tools such as Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Looker, and Funnel to generate reports, insights, and recommendations
  • Manage a multi-level team in terms of training, bandwidth, project management to produce efficient and accurate client services
  • Develop standard operating procedures, templates, and guidelines for search execution and train team to deliver client results
  • Ensure team is delivering work in scope and effectively managing time across clients
  • Ensure cross-channel development and collaboration with social division
  • Look for opportunities to drive cross-service revenue in clients with an understanding of all of Belardi Wong’s offerings across online and offline channels
  • Participate in business development as needed
  • Look for new channel opportunities in the expanding world of search and develop a point of view on channels such as Reddit, AI-generative search and display
  • Partner with SVP and Director, Social to develop strategic plans for how to build and scale the digital media program at Belardi Wong

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work with internal team to share learnings across clients for improved performance in both search and social.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and ensure Belardi Wong is on the cutting edge of digital marketing strategy.
  • Miscellaneous reporting and measurement.
  • Adequate project management through BW project management system
  • Be a spokesperson for Belardi Wong’s digital media division, sharing expertise in webinars and events
  • Support in division growth through new channel expertise, technology, or vendor partnerships

Qualifications

In addition, our "ideal candidate" has the following skills & experience:

  • Candidate must have 9+ years applicable experience. Must be very proficient in Google Adwords, Bing Ads, Google Analytics, Google Looker, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • A deep understanding of how to build and scale effective media programs for ecommerce and retail brands
  • Experience managing a team
  • Must be an expert in paid search.
  • A self-starter with ability to be both self-directed and be willing to collaborate with the broader team
  • Open to asking questions and the desire to learn and grow with the division
